I was a bit worried about getting too dirty, but the farming part was actually hilarious. The mud is thick, so definitely bring those backup clothes like they suggest! Riding the open-air E-car back with the breeze after a massive lunch at Madam Van's place was the perfect way to cool down.

Throwing the fishing net is way harder than the locals make it look. My husband and I had a blast failing at it while the fishermen laughed along with us. The basket boat ride through the palms was super peaceful, and the fresh local dishes at lunch were honestly better than most restaurants in town.

Getting my two teenagers to wake up at 8 AM is usually a nightmare, but they absolutely loved this. They actually put their phones away to plant rice and ride the buffalo. The guide was fantastic at explaining the history of the coconut forest without making it feel like a boring lecture.

A really well-balanced itinerary. The biking through the vegetable village was flat and easy, which was great because my knees are not what they used to be. The transition from biking to farming to boating was seamless, and the luxury buggy pick-up right from our hotel lobby was a very nice touch.

Make sure you wear plenty of sunscreen because there is not much shade out in the open rice paddies. That said, it was an unforgettable experience. The local family hosting the lunch was so welcoming, and the Vietnamese tea they served was amazing. Highly recommend this if you want to escape the crowded city streets.
